A Raising Hand that Missed
Type of Game: Limit Texas Hold'em, $15-$30 cash game.
Your Cards: As-Tc
Your Position: Middle
Scenario: All players before you fold, and you raise. One player in late position, and the small blind, calls. There is $100 in the pot and three players still in the hand. The flop shows Ks-7h-2c. Your hand didn’t improve at all. The small blind checks and now it’s your turn to act. What do you do in this situation? Check or bet?
Our answer: You should bet in this situation. You raised before the flop, and the other players are likely to think that you’re holding a strong hand. Your opponents might have missed the flop as well, and if this is the case the will probably fold. Even if they did hit something, there is a good chance that they will fold smaller pairs than K if you bet.
