The Nut Flush Draw
Type of Game: Limit Texas Hold’em, $15-$30 cash game.
Your Cards: As-Ks
Your Position: Button
Scenario: A player in early position raises, a player in middle position calls, and you re-raise. The small blind, and the two other players already in the hand calls. There is now $190 in the pot, and four players still in the hand. The flop shows Js-7h-3s. You now have the nut flush draw, and two over cards. The small blind bets, the player in early position folds, and the player in middle position raises. What do you do in this situation? Fold, Call, or re-raise?
Our answer: You should re-raise in this situation. You have a draw to the best possible hand, and two over cards in addition to this. Since the pot is big already, you want to re-raise and try to get the small blind to fold in order to increase your chances of winning the hand. Your re-raise might also give you an opportunity of seeing the river for free (if your opponent(s) checks).
